Orion Ensemble gives an impressive performance

The Orion Ensemble has performed in the Baudeloo a number of times. And rightly so, for it is an excellent music society... Yesterday was the first night of an entirely new programme. With Jewish music as a source of inspiration. They opened with three parts from the score in Schindler‘s List by John Williams. Right from the start with the very well-known theme one felt the great tension these musicians manage to convey. Very profound and full of emotion and sublime sound. Also the part Jewish Town, with its peculiar Jewish scale, and the rather polyphonic Remembrances were most convincing. … After the interval the highlight of the concert. The trio nr.2 by Shostakovich.…”If a beloved person dies words fail”, he wrote. And this is evident in his trio. … A masterly piece by an equally great master who in a very skilful manner knows how to convey emotion to his audience. A difficult work too that was interpreted by this Orion Ensemble in a sublime and heart-felt way. I wouldn’t mind them coming back many times for this is music of the highest level.
