Intense empathy and subtle interlacement of music and word A Spanish day and Argentine nights
A morning of enjoyment, absorption and empathy, and a long afterglow. While outside it was freezing fairly we experienced, inside and inwardly, beauty of poetry and music giving a sense of comfort and warmth. Also due to the extensive early announcement in the press we could look forward to a literary and musical performance of a very high level. … We were soon captivated by the story, by Jan Terlouw as a narrator and just as much by the musical story around it. On account of the part every instrument played in it word and sound merged together or intensified each other. These skilled musicians have the gift of communicating mutually and with the audience. They made all the emotional nuances and atmospheric tones touched upon in the story come over us in varying guises, like a warm blanket, a fresh wind, a sensual night, a moon-lit evening, transport and passion.… After the performance many a tearful eye betrayed how moving it had been and how reminiscent of that one moment, that day, that night, that private passion in olden days. It was a great privilege to witness a concert like this in our own Rooi.
