Piazzolla and his angel
The Orion Ensemble … presented a programme under the title of Piazzolla and his Angel. Other items of the programme were works by Gershwin and the Hommage by Leutscher, based on songs of the Beatles. Three stars of the constellation Orion and music with passion and swing; a light/luminous beginning of 2005.… In the pieces by Piazzolla the very beautiful and as for timbre perfectly attuned ensemble of cello and violin was supported , complemented and where necessary dominated by the piano.… Also in Hommage was much that could be recognised with joy. … The arrangement of the Fool on the Hill, next to a number of musical formal phrases, also contained some nice links to the final piece by Piazzolla: Suite del Ángel, to which he programme owed its title. An imposing and moving finale of the concert, in which Piazzolla and the three instrumentalists displayed all facets of their abilities, which was rewarded by a warm and sustained applause.
