A programme with work of the Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla. All compositions, among which the famous Adios Nonino, are performed in arrangements by José Bragato, the cellist who cooperated with Astor Piazzolla for many years.
His instrumentations of Piazzolla’s original work were rendered by him to the expressive scope of the traditional piano trio in a masterly way. The programme pivots round the ‘Suite del Ángel’. In this suite in four parts the death and resurrection of an angel are being suggested by Piazzolla’s music in an imposing way. Swinging fugues and melancholy milongas involve the listener inescapably in the vicissitudes of this miraculous angel. Who is that angel and why is he so important to Astor?
