Piazzolla, his tangos and what preceded...

Who does not know the passionate music by Astor Piazzolla? In his wonderful tangos sounds life in Buenos Aires, love of American jazz, admiration for composers from Bach to Stravinsky and an undoubtedly warm-blooded temperament. In this programme ‘Piazzolla first and Piazzolla last’. Moreover a kaleidoscopic survey of the musical genres preceding his tangos, such as, for instance, the tangos by Gardel that are sung and the milongas by his master Ginastera. And as you have got used to with the Orion Ensemble, all this of course accompanied with playful explanatory comment.
In short: delightful music. Melancholy milongas, witty tangos and as a dashing finale the integral performance of Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas, in which work Piazzolla’s music can be heard in all its riches.
