The result is amazing. The wonderful tunes , the often surprising harmonies, the subtle second parts, everything is present and , what’s more, gets an entire colour of its own, an entire intrinsic vitality by the way the Orion Ensemble makes music. Listen to one of the best-known works on the CD , Milonga del Ángel…, and fall for the brilliant timing of violinist Pauline Terlouw and cello-player Carla Schrijner and admire the superbly underpinning piano music by Leonard Leutscher. Who ever dares to contend again that the Dutch are incapable of playing tango and milonga is powerfully put in the wrong with this CD.
